What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is based on the principle that the feet are like a mirror image of the body and that certain areas of the feet, called reflex points are linked to areas of body through the meridian system. The arrangement of the reflexes has a direct relationship to the area of the body they affect. For example, the right side of the foot is linked to the right side of the body. While the tips of the toes correspond to the head. The liver, pancreas and kidneys connect to the arch of the foot, and the lower back and intestines towards the heel.
What are the Benefits of Reflexology?
Client who receive regular reflexology treatments have reported many times that the treatments' help to improve sleep and promote deep relaxation. Here are the many benefits to receiving reflexology:-

• Relaxation - The therapy encourages the body and mind to enter a deeply relaxed state.
• Soothing tired feet - The techniques and special hand movements can help to ease tension and pain in the feet.
• Reducing pain - Research suggests that Reflexology is an effective pain reliever.
• Improving circulation
• Enhancing overall well-being - Many people use Reflexology on a regular basis to support health and wellbeing.
I have always been fascinated by reflexology since receiving a number of treatments myself in my early 20’s. I then went on to study a degree in complementary therapies that included modules in Reflexology and Advanced Techniques that strengthened my knowledge and understanding of how the treatments work.
My reflexology teacher taught me that “the feet never lie” and after many years of working as a complementary therapist, I now understand what this meant. I have seen time after time the connection between imbalances in the body and the condition of the feet and the benefits of working on these reflexes to improve overall health and wellbeing. My fascination with this ancient healing art still continues today and I would love to see more qualitative research undertaken for this gentle but effective treatment.
What to Expect
Before your first treatment, I will go through an initial consultation form with you in order to establish any contraindications and expected outcomes of treatment. Your treatments may need to be adapted depending on this information.
After the initial consultation I will give you time to lie down on the massage table, where your back will be elevated and pillows/bolsters used to find a comfortable position for you to deeply relax into the treatment.
I like to play relaxing therapy music during my massage treatments, as this can help you to relax and unwind. However, please let me know if you would prefer not to have this. My aim is for you to be comfortable, relaxed and content in order to get the most out of your treatment.
After your reflexology treatment you should feel relaxed and may feel sleepy, so it is important to give yourself plenty of time to unwind.
If you would like further information on any of the treatments I provide or would like to book an appointment please call or text Clare on 07707984397.
